Declan Kidney’s Irish side are quietly confident of achieving their first grand slam since 1948, when they were inspired by legendary tactician and fly-half Jack Kyle. A win would set Ireland up for a Triple Crown, Grand Slam and Championship decider with Wales in Cardiff.
Kidney has made four changes to the side that defeated England in Croke Park two weeks ago.
Gordon D’Arcy replaces Paddy Wallace at centre and Peter Stringer comes in for Tomas O’Leary at scrum-half. Ulster captain Rory Best starts at hooker instead of Jerry Flannery and Denis Leamy is named at number eight, replacing Jamie Heaslip.
For the Scottish side, Jim Hamilton will replace Ally Kellock in the second row. Scotland’s record points scorer, Chris Paterson, will make his first Six Nations start of the season, returning at full-back to replace Hugo Southwell.
