City Homicide is an Australian television drama series that premiered on Seven Network on 27 August 2007.
The series is set on the Homicide floor of a metropolitan police headquarters in Melbourne, Victoria.
The main characters are four detectives, who solve the murder cases and their two superior officers.
The show’s co-writers are John Hugginson who has previously worked on Water Rats, Murder Call and Blue Heelers, and John Banas who has written for All Saints and Stingers in addition to Water Rats and Blue Heelers. In an interview with the Herald Sun, Banas told of how the show had been in planning since “late last millennium”.
There are several parallels to City Homicide’s predecessor Blue Heelers, including being shot in Victoria, same production company and tv network, as a result City Homicide can be considered a spiritual successor to Blue Heelers.
The bulk of City Homicide is shot at Seven’s South Melbourne studios and the show features Melbourne landmarks, such as Flinders Street Station and the city’s trams.
The series is distributed overseas by Southern Star Group.
City Homicide was created by John Hugginson and John Banas.
It stars Noni Hazlehurst, Shane Bourne, Daniel MacPherson, Nadine Garner, Aaron Pedersen and Damien Richardson.
