Easy Money is a dramedy set in the world of a Southwestern loan shark family. Led by business-minded matriarch Bobette Buffkin, “Prestige Payday Loans” is a thriving quick-cash company. However, they presently encounter competition from the thuggish Mamayo Brothers, and middle son Morgan attempts to ease tensions.
At the same time, aided by attractive grad student Julia Miller, he investigates a childhood secret to resolve his feelings of familial alienation, much to Bobette’s dismay. Morgan has always been Prestige’s “heavy,” running down ne’er-do-wells and gambling addicts, a fact he is reluctant to admit to Julia.
Meanwhile, his older but less mature brother Cooper knocks heads with corrupt local Detective Yapp, who in turn blackmails Morgan. If Morgan can find a way to fend off the local yokels and unlock the secrets of his past, he just might be able to spend more time with Julia and find a better life for himself.
